Bouaké, 17 Oct 2026 (AIP) – Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, on Friday 16 October 2026, in Bouaké-Ahougnasou 2 extension, launched the construction of 1,520 social and economic housing units for rent-for-sale and single hire, financed by the West African Development Bank (BOAD) to the tune of more than 40 billion CFA francs.

The project covers more than 16 hectares and includes 76 R+4 buildings, divided into 760 three-room apartments and 760 four-room apartments.

This operation is part of the Emergency Programme for the construction of 25,000 social and economic housing units, launched by the Government in Abidjan in 2024. Its financing is based on two agreements between BOAD and the State of Côte d’Ivoire.

The first agreement, signed in August 2025, concerns the construction of 680 housing units in Bouaké and contributes to the financing of 420 housing units in Yamoussoukro. The second, signed in May 2026, concerns 840 additional housing units in Bouaké, bringing the total to 1,520 units in the capital of the Gbêkê region.

The Minister of Urbanism, Housing and Living Environment, Moussa Sanogo, expressed his gratitude to BOAD for its financial support. He called for compliance with the commitments of the State of Côte d’Ivoire, in particular with regard to the quality of the works.

“When a partner renews his financial assistance to support successive operations in the same city, he demonstrates his confidence. It is now up to us to justify this confidence by the quality of the works and the fulfilment of our commitments,” he said.

The Director of the Health, Education and Real Estate Department of BOAD, Emmanuel Cheick Oumar Barry, conveyed to the head of the Ivorian State, Alassane Ouattara, and to his government the recognition of the president of this subregional financial institution for their concern for the Bank.

He reaffirmed the readiness of BOAD to support the Ivorian Government in its efforts to improve the living conditions of the people.
